Sew: Cute Cushions

One day, not too long ago, I felt that our lounge room was looking dull and plain. We have a cream-coloured sofa (not too far off needing a replacement) and beige walls with white trims and it was all feeling very dull and lifeless. I rummaged through my fabric stash and found the perfect pattern to brighten up our living area. I then measured out a some squares, roughly the size of cushions, a matching, plain backing fabric and began sewing. I always have spare zippers lying around and I pulled apart some old pillows to fill them with.

I am really happy with the result and I definitely think they brighten up the space a little – even if my husband thought they were a bit girly.

What have you done to brighten up your otherwise boring space? space?

  1. They look fab!

I change things up ocassionally with new cushions or wall-hangings. Scented candles are good too but I don’t spend too much money on interiors. Our couch is beige too..=)

  2. Love ’em! The fabric is very cheery, and I love it with that chair. Very pretty!

I make a lot of pillow covers too, I love that they can change the vibe of a room so quickly and easily. Plus, they are so easy to make.

  3. My home is 50s style retro so when I get bored with my decor I can usually change it up cheaply with a visit to the local op shops.
