Bake: Peach and Pear Crumble

This is a quick, easy dessert that I often turn to when it’s cold, wet and windy outside, and when I’m craving something sweet after dinner. With this dessert, I can also kid myself that it is healthy, as it mainly consists of fruit. I know that a crumble recipe is pretty easy to make and I’m not really reinventing the wheel here, but I thought I’d share anyway – I’ve just made up the quantities and ingredients, over time, to suit how I like it made and based on items I always have in the pantry.

Peach and Pear Crumble

1 small tin of pears – sliced into small pieces

1 small tin of peaches – sliced into small pieces

2 tbs plain flour

2 tbs butter – softened

2 tbs brown sugar

2-3 tbs oats

1/2 tsp cinnamon

– Rub butter into flour –

– It should look a bit like this –

– Then mix in sugar, oats and cinnamon –

– Mix both peaches and pears together in small dishes –

– An arty shot that shows both crumble and fruit base –

– Top fruit with crumble. Bake in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes –

– Top with custard and eat slowly so you enjoy it for longer –

Do you have a favourite crumble recipe? Do you tell yourself it’s healthy because it’s fruit?

  1. I love how we try to trick ourselves that desserts are healthy. I remember my sister thinking carrot cake was really good for you!
Never made a crumble but I think I’ll have to have a go. What a quick easy way to have a dessert ready!

    • Thank you Ren. I do some of my baking when Husband is caring for Evie. But I also get Evie helping a lot. I plan on her being a great cook by the time she’s 5, so that I can retire from the kitchen! x
